About Coach Matt Bernstein

Coach Matt Bernstein is a two-time Class C Player of the Year selection at Edgemont H.S. in Scarsdale, New York, where he won three State championships. During his Senior year, Matt played tailback on the offensive side of the ball and rushed for 2,002 yards and 37 touchdowns . Defensively, he was a fierce linebacker with statistics of 108 tackles and seven forced fumbles. He finished his career ranked third all-time in New York prep annals in scoring with 504 points. For his efforts he was the Con Edison Scholar-Athlete of the year.

Matt obtained a full scholarship to Wisconsin-Madison to play for the Big Ten Powerhouse. While there, he produced 53 touchdown-resulting blocks for a ground game that totaled 71 rushing touchdowns during his first three seasons at Wisconsin. He averaged 10 knockdown blocks per game and made 11 touchdown resulting blocks as a pass protector. He was a Preseason All-American and All-Big Ten Conference first-team selection by The NFL Draft Report as a senior. He started every game as a junior and finished third on the team with a career-high 300 rushing yards and a touchdown. During his four years, he was also Academic All-Big Ten Conference selection. Coach Matt went on to the NFL Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Soul, but was sidelined with injuries and retired to coaching.

In addition to coaching at the PAC, Coach Matt is currently the assistant coach at Edgemont, in New York. Coach Matt will focus on helping young kids develop a passion for the game. He will teach individual and team basic skills. For older players, he will focus on mastering their position while showing them what it takes to become a dominant High School and College player.
